Abstract

Today, the significant impact of entrepreneurship on the economicandsocial growth and development of countries is so wellknown that some experts refer to this era as the age of entrepreneurship. One of the necessities for the development of entrepreneurship in society is to critically review the processes and identify the factors of success and failure, which can help formulate appropriate policies and strategies to increase the success rate of entrepreneurs. Therefore, with a qualitative approach and using the narrative analysis method, the present study seeks the story of the economic life of entrepreneurs who failed during their activity and were forced to close their business. To collect data, an open-ended interview was conducted with a number of entrepreneurs who faced failure during their business activities, with a purposive selection. The data analysis was conducted using the steps of thematic analysis and led to the identification of seven main themes, including the personality need to expand the business, listening to environmental demand regarding new business creation, immaturity to start a business, taking on a partner. At some point, the reconstruction of the positive and negative mental schema, unfavorable external conditions in economic terms and inflation as a destructive factor caused the destruction from within. The main categories of the research indicate that the decline of companies is not a sudden phenomenon that occurs in companies. This process starts from the very beginning when the work in the context is not in proportion to the main need and it leads to failure due to various internal and external factors
